In high-humidity areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and underground garages, ceiling board moisture damage, mold growth, and surface peeling are frequent post-renovation issues. Combining gypsum boards with waterproof embossed PVC film has become a standardized ceiling solution for these humid environments, widely adopted in commercial and residential engineering projects.

Standard paper-faced gypsum board is inherently hydrophilic; once moisture penetrates, it quickly molds and turns to powder. Even with waterproof paint applied, the surface coating remains prone to peeling and flaking. In contrast, the embossed PVC film is composed of a high-polymer waterproof material that completely wraps the front face of the gypsum board. This blocks water molecules from penetrating the substrate, cutting off moisture at the source to eliminate mold and crumbling.

Specifically tailored for kitchen and bathroom scenarios, the upgraded PVC film features an oil-resistant surface layer. Cooking fumes and grease splatters can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent, preventing oil stains and discoloration. Furthermore, the subtle 3D texture does not trap dirt, and compared to smooth, flat film surfaces, it better disguises minor scratches for longer-lasting visual appeal.

For dark, damp spaces like basements and underground garages, light-colored 3D embossed PVC film brightens dim interiors while built-in anti-mold additives inhibit the attachment and growth of mold spores. Today, numerous architectural design institutes have integrated waterproof embossed PVC-laminated gypsum boards into their standard material specifications for humid-zone ceilings, significantly reducing post-completion maintenance and rework costs.
