Components of a Complete T-Grid System

A complete T-grid suspension system consists of four main components:

Main Tee The primary load-bearing rail, typically 3,600mm (3.6m) in length. Main Tees run in parallel at 600mm or 1,200mm intervals across the ceiling. They are suspended from the building structure above using hanger wires at maximum 1,200mm intervals.

Cross Tee  Secondary rails that connect perpendicular to the Main Tee to form the grid pattern. Available in 1,200mm and 600mm lengths. For a standard 600×600mm tile grid, 600mm Cross Tees are used. For a 600×1200mm tile grid, 1,200mm Cross Tees are used.

Wall Angle  An L-shaped perimeter rail that is fixed to the surrounding walls at the finished ceiling height. The Wall Angle supports the outer edges of the ceiling tiles and provides a clean, finished perimeter detail. Standard Wall Angle is 3,000mm in length.

Hanger Wire Galvanized steel wire used to suspend the Main Tee rails from the floor or roof structure above. Hanger wires are typically installed at 1,200mm intervals along each Main Tee.

T-24 vs T-15 - Understanding the Two Standard Systems

The two most widely used T-grid standards worldwide are T-24 and T-15. The number refers to the visible face width of the grid rail in millimetres.
